Tips on Purchasing a Butane Lighter
The world is quickly moving away from the culture of disposable goods and, so far as the environment is concerned, good riddance to that culture. Refillable lighters represent one of the most-popular ways people have found to save money and landfill space. Of course, they also have a lot of style. The explosion of new designs has made sure that almost anyone can find a model that suits them to a "T".
Butane torch lighters tend to turn heads. It's hard not to look when one catches sight of a double or triple blue flame out of the corner of one's eye. The Colibri lighter company makes many such models which are representative of the style: sleek, modern and aesthetically-pleasing. These lighters have practical value, as well. As the butane has no taste or odor, it is perfectly safe to light a cigar or pipe with these models without risking adding the lighter fluid flavor that causes many smokers to eschew the traditional liquid-fueled refillables. Where fuel is concerned, however, just as is the case with an expensive sports car, high-end equipment calls for high-end fuel.
For those who prefer a classic style, a fluid-filled lighter is oftentimes the choice. These lighters can be as elegant as the most refined cigar party or as rebellious as a biker jacket depending upon the hand that wields them. They are reliable, durable and have a timeless feel. Their reliability makes them particularly well-suited for outdoor applications whether those applications be lighting up a pipe out on the water while fishing or getting a campfire going in the wind and rain.
Refueling these lighters is a very easy affair. The canisters used to dispense the butane are designed to mate with the receivers on the bottom of these lighters which ensures that there are no mishaps. One should never attempt to force an incorrect adapter or to use a fuel other than butane in these lighters. There are various grades of butane available on the market. If one has purchased an elegant lighter, it makes sense to purchase a high grade of butane to go with it. The performance, of course, will also be much better.
High-quality products do more than flatter our egos. They also eliminate waste and, in the case of lighters, make the experience of smoking more enjoyable. These lighters now come in a wide enough variety of styles that most anyone can find something that reflects their personality. If a torch lighter is a bit too much, there are, of course, butane refillables that put out a less-intense, yellow flame. Either way, one can be sure that their lighter will provide many years of reliable, and fashionable, service.

Having trouble filling my torch lighter?
I have two lighters that I'm trying to fill. Both are for butane and have the small circle on the bottom to indicate such. I generally know how to fill a butane lighter,
my problem is that these have a circle on the bottom which can be switch between a positive and a negative sign, and because i can't fill the lighters otherwise, i'm assuming i have to move this switch somehow.
so, should the circle be on the + sign or the - sign and how does it indicate such?
Eli, make sure the switch is turned to the "-" sign. Before you refill your lighter make sure you bleed the tank (OUTSIDE) by pushing down on that valve outside till you hear no sound, this will release any air that is in the tank. Push down on the valve a few times more.
When refilling turn the lighter upside down so the bottom is upright. Refill the lighter; on most lighters you will hear a hissing sound when it is full. Turn the +- valve to the desired height for the flame. Put the lighter down for at least 5 minutes before igniting so that the butane can warm to room temperature (warming in your hands works well to).
If you have any further problems with flame strength or consistency feel free to ask again!
